Default SQL 2005

If we are looking to upgrade our Blackberry database from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005, will there be any steps other then converting the database needed in order for a smooth transition?

Thanks,
-Sam.

By "upgrade" how do you mean?

Are you moving from one server to another? Performing an in-place upgrade of SQL 2000 to SQL 20005 on the same server? There is no "database conversion" done either way.

Sorry yes, an in place upgrade of 2000 to 2005 on the same server. Dont' know what I was thinking when I thought converting the database.

Uninstall DBNS if it is installed
Backup all databases
Perform SQL Upgrade
Reinstall DBNS if desired

I did this last year and it worked flawlessly.

I'd recommend scheduling a BES outage during this window and would actually recommend taking BES offline during the change as it isn't just a simple SQL outage, but rather major change.

Do you know where I can find where the paths for mdss and mdss_dis. They are being changed to a new location with the 2005 switch.
