Question Local BPS admin possible?

My company is deploying12 more BB's to our field staff in addition to the 3 we have in the office. We are running BPS which our outside IT company set up on our exchange server.

My boss wants me to be able to admin the BB's so we don't have to pay our IT company every time we want to do something. My IT guy is saying that the BESADMIN account is an administrator on our server and you have to log in as BESADMIN to use the blackbery software, causing an inherent conflict with me having too much access to the company server and being able to screw with the active directory and the like.

Is there a way for him to delegate permissions to my account so I can admin the BPS software or am I out of luck?

Thanks for all your help!!

He's correct, but are you really a risk or is he thinking that if he gives you access to the BES that it's one less dollar, quid, Euro, yen, etc in his pocket?!?!?!?

The BES Admin account, if permissioned correctly, will have no change/write access to Active Directory. You'll have some Exchange permissions, but not enough to do any damage with them. Logging in through RDP as an Administrator would give you the ability to delete files on the server, which could in turn cause potential chaois with your domain and various installations (I'm assuming this is on a Windows SBS/EBS server).

Cautionary judgement would say to not allow it, but you should also have the ability to administer your own servers, hosted or not. BPS does not have role-based administration, but I'm assuming that any sort of remote console would not be preferrable to RDP access (WAN latency kills the effectiveness of the remote console, in my opinion).
