Default Importing an SQL Besmgmt database over the top

Importing BESmgmt database SQL Server Express 2005 - Today, 03:55 PM
I need to install Blackberry 5 MR2 over the top, and i have been advised to backup the database(which i do every night), run the reinstall, create a new blank database, run the setup all the way through. The last step will be to go into Blackberry Server Configuration and point it at the new database. The backup (3GB!) is sitting on the C: drive in program files/ Sql/ backup director. My good database is on the D: drive and (program files/ microsoft sql server/mmsql/ data and consists of 2 files , and .mdf and a .ldf (much smaller 250MB). How does my backup database get in and replace the good database. It is not clear to me but probably someone has done this.
