Exclamation BES perfmon counters & thresholds

Hi All;

im looking for information on the recommended thresholds or any rough idea as to what should be monitored and at what thresholds should tool such as MOM and spotlight be set at? I understand this can differ from org to org – however I just want a rough guide….anyone have any ideas, or can tell me what you have set at the moment?

Also has anyone here installed MOM BES Management Pack? If so how was it, any good? Easy to configure…and was it a simple out of the box solution?

Thanks

i also would like to know this.

although i have been using the bms that came with 4.1.5 and i have 2 thresholds set: # of agents>4 and SRP=1
so basically if less than 5 agents are running (the default) or if the srp is not connected let me know. it has worked well so far. it also by default says if any services are not running. i have it alert me via mms sending an email to my device (incase bb services are down, still get mms, and i use mms so i get it in one message instead of 2 or 3 sms)

BMS is free and included. with 4.1.5 and later its in a folder called BMS within the bes install folder. with 5.0 its an actual option during the bes install.

We purchased the iVision management pack a while back. The company has since stopped making updates, to my knowledge (as of the 4.0 management pack). I know we had to make some customizations to the management pack for it to work with BES 4.1. About two years ago (2006-2007 timeframe), they switched to more of a consulting and managed services firm rather and I believe the iMP platform diminished with it. Of course, they could be offering updates through their consulting arm, but when I called them two years ago, I got some lady on the phone who sounded like she was babysitting someone (she hung up on me, as well).

Nevertheless, I will see what settings we have enabled (I believe most are actually disabled with the exception of the service monitoring). We won't be using this management pack with Operations Manager 2007, as we'll be configuring our BoxTone SCOM Connector.

Cheers guys...proactive monitoring seems to be top priority especially as our service is to be 24x7 with call-out, so ensuring the thresholds are correct could save me some sleep

Otto thanks in advanced for any further details you can provide...
