Default Deploy Rove Mobile Admin client from BES

Has anyone been able to deploy the Rove Mobile Admin client (4.2.x.x) to handhelds via Software Configuration in BES 5?

I have the desktop install files (.alx/.cod) for Mobile Admin, but as we know in BES 5 land, BAS wants a .zip file to add the application to the software config.

I tried just zipping up the .alx and .cod files and then providing that homemade .zip to BAS. No go. I get the following error:
The application version: 4.2.6075 is not parse-able. The accepted version format is XXX.YYY.YYY.YYY where X and Y are numeric characters. Only X is required.

Have you tried editing the ALX file and updating the version number to include a third version dot (a la 4.2.6075.0)? If this works, then I would go back to Rove and mention that it appears their versioning is not compatible with the new BES 5.0 software configurations. I would then let them either update their versioning scheme or contact RIM to fix the by-design bug that is obviously present. From the error above, I don't believe this is an issue with your ZIP file, obviously.

In the .ALX file, I made the version number 4.2.6075.0 and I got the same error message.
But... you put me on the right path.

It's the 6075 portion of the version number that BES doesn't like. It wants a maximum of three digits, not four. I made the version number 4.2.675.0 and was able to publish to Software Config.

I'll contact Rove and let them know they might need to adjust their versioning scheme.

Hi Cheese Sammich,

No need to contact Rove. I have been testing this out at Rove this morning and found the same behavior that you are seeing.

My understanding is that the versioning scheme we use is valid when the application is installed on the handheld OTA or through the Desktop Manger so this is an issue that we will have to discuss with RIM.

I am happy to hear that you are up and running now, but please do not hesitate to contact Rove if you run into any further difficulties.
