Default KB16130 - Unable to log in to BlackBerry WDM with BES for Domino

KB16130 - Unable to log in to BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager with BlackBerry Enterprise Server for IBM Lotus Domino

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for IBM® Lotus® Domino®
  • BlackBerry® Web Desktop Manager

Overview

When logging in to BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager, an error message indicates that the user name and password are invalid.

Cause

BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager uses the Domino Internet Inter-ORB Protocol (DIIOP) service for authentication. The port that the DIIOP services uses must be set manually in the bas-config.properties file for the BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager to successfully authenticate BlackBerry smartphone users.

Resolution

To manually set the DIIOP service port in the bas-config.properties file, complete the following steps:
  1. Open both the bas-config.properties files located in the following locations:
    • c:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Administration Service\Server\default\conf
    • c:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Administration Service\Server\ncc\conf
  2. Edit the emailDomino_serverUrl= value to include the web address and port for the computer that hosts the DIIOP service. For example,
    • emailDomino_serverUrl=<computer web address>:<port number>
    • emailDomino_serverUrl=<computer name>:<port number>
  3. Verify that the DIIOP service is running and using the specified port number by completing the following steps:
    1. Type show tasks in the IBM Lotus Domino console.
    2. In the list of running process locate the DIIOP service.
    3. Check the port number in the Listen to Connection Requests on TCP Port field.
    4. The port listed should match the port configured in bas-config.properties files.
  4. Restart the following BlackBerry Enterprise Server services:
    • BlackBerry Administration Service - AS
    • BlackBerry Administration Service - NCC
