KB17422 - How to export IT policy rules using the BlackBerry User Administration Service

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server Resource Kit

Overview

The BlackBerry User Administration Service can be used to export a list of all IT policy items that are set for a particular IT policy. This can be used to view a summary of all the IT policy items that are currently set when reviewing current settings, or planning for changes to security settings.

Resolution

Note: The BlackBerry User Administration Service must be installed and properly configured before proceeding.
To list the IT policy rules in an IT policy, complete the following steps:
  1. At the command prompt, switch to the folder that stores the following command for the IT policy WLAN: besuseradminclient -p password1 -list -it_policy_rules -it_policy WLAN
  2. To export the policy to a text file, add the following:
    1. OutputFile.csv
    2. Optional additional switches, as follows:
      • Type besuseradminclient -list -it_policy_rules and the following parameters:
        • BlackBerry_Enterprise_Server_service_name
        • database_username (if you use database authentication)
        • database_password (if you use database authentication)
        • network_address_of_BlackBerry_Enterprise_Server_User_Administration_Tool_service (if the BlackBerry Enterprise Server User Administration Tool service and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server User Administration Tool client do not run on the same computer)
        • policy_name User Guide for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server User Administration Tool
For more information, see Parameters available for use with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server User Administration Tool.
