Default KB16016 - "70 Processing Stopped: Invalid PIN" appears in the IT Policy Status ...

KB16016 - "70 Processing Stopped: Invalid PIN" appears in the IT Policy Status section of a user in the BlackBerry Manager

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.1 SP4
  • BlackBerry® Professional Software version 4.1 SP4

Overview

When assigning an IT policy, one of the following error messages is received:
  • 70 Processing Stopped: Invalid PIN
  • Processing Stopped: Invalid PIN
IT policies are assigned in BlackBerry Manager using any of the following options:
Note: Assign a personal identification number (PIN) to the BlackBerry smartphone user before assigning IT policies.
  1. From the Global level, open the Global Properties dialog box and select IT Policy from the Properties menu. Set the IT Policy to User Mapping setting.
  2. From the User level, open the Select IT Policy dialog box either by right-clicking the BlackBerry smartphone user and selecting Assign IT Policy or by selecting Assign IT Policy from the IT Admin tasks menu.
  3. From the User level, select the Edit Properties tasks menu. Select the IT Policy setting from the Properties menu.
If IT policies are assigned using option 1 or 2, the error message is 70 Processing Stopped: Invalid PIN. This is intended behavior that shows the BlackBerry smartphone user does not have a BlackBerry smartphone assigned.
In BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1 SP5, the error message is Processing Stopped: Invalid PIN. This error message is received when assigning an IT policy to the BlackBerry smartphone user or re-assigning the default IT policy using option 1 or 2.

Resolution

Upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1.5 or later.

Workaround

If the IT policy is assigned at the User level it does not generate the error message.
At the User level, select the Edit Properties tasks menu. Select the IT Policy setting from the Properties menu.
