Default KB15239 - "Failed to open user info note" error in IBM Lotus Domino Console

KB15239 - "Failed to open user info note" error in IBM Lotus Domino Console

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.1 for IBM® Lotus® Domino®
  • IBM® Lotus® Domino® 6.5 to 8.0

Overview

After restarting the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, the following error is displayed in the IBM Lotus Domino Console. Regular IBM Lotus Domino Server maintenance fails to resolve the issue.
Unable to get last accessed time from User Info note in BBSD for USER/DOMAIN (Invalid or nonexistent document 0x0227)

{USER/DOMAIN} SetLastAccessDate failed for user USER/DOMAIN (Invalid or nonexistent document 0x0227)

{USER/DOMAIN} UnreadMarks::Init - Failed to open user info note (Invalid or nonexistent document 0x0227)

Cause

This issue may be caused by one of the following:
  1. The User Info document is missing in the State Database for the affected BlackBerry smartphone user.
  2. A corrupt State Database exists for the BlackBerry smartphone user.

Resolution

Cause 1

The User Info document is missing in the State Database for the affected BlackBerry smartphone user.
Resolution 1

Open the affected BlackBerry smartphone user's State Database and select the User Info view. On the right side there should be a document titled with the canonical name of the affected user. For example, CN=User/O=Domain. If this is missing complete the following steps:
  1. Locate a backup copy of the affected user's State Database that still contains the User Info document. If no such backup exists proceed to Resolution 2.
  2. Stop the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and copy the User Info document from the backup State Database to the active database.
  3. Restart the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the affected user will be re-initialized.

Cause 2

A corrupt State Database exists for the BlackBerry smartphone user.
Resolution 2

  1. Remove the BlackBerry smartphone user from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
  2. Make sure the State Database and profile document have been deleted.
  3. Add the BlackBerry smartphone user to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, which creates a new State Database, and profile document.
