KB16451 - Known issues with BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 6 for Novell GroupWise

Environment

* BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 6 (4.1.6) for Novell® GroupWise®
* BlackBerry smartphones
* Microsoft® SQL Server® 2000

Details

BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1.6 for Novell GroupWise has been temporarily removed from www.blackberry.com due to a number of known issues. The following are the major issues that that have been found:

Installation issues

The following are known installation issues with BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1.6 for Novell GroupWise:

* When running the BlackBerry Configuration Database with Microsoft SQL Server 2000, the upgrade might time out without completing correctly. For more information and available workarounds, see KB16453.
* Email message flow may be degraded or stop due to large amounts of calendar processing. For more information and available workarounds, see KB16447.
* Past meeting requests might be resent from a BlackBerry smartphone user to other BlackBerry smartphone users. In some cases, this occurs even if the BlackBerry smartphone user is not the organizer of the meeting. For more information, see KB16452.

Post-installation issues:

In smaller environments, the upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1.6 may occur without incident. As there are a number of fixes, functional changes, and new features in BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1.6, returning to BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 4 (4.1.4) is not recommended. There are some known issues with BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1.6 that will be addressed in a future release of BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1.

The following post-installation issues occur after applying BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1.6 for Novell GroupWise:

* Searches of BlackBerry smartphone users in external domains in Novell GroupWise can no longer be performed. For more information, see KB16449.
* Searches of distribution lists can no longer be performed. For more information, see KB16439.
