Default BES 5.0 - Batch Scripts for Stopping and Starting Services

These should cover the following deployment:

- Remote BlackBerry Administration Service
- BlackBerry Enterprise Server (Core Components only)
- High Availability configuration for BES components
- Pooling configuration for BAS components

For the BES components, the BlackBerry Alert, BlackBerry Policy Service, and BlackBerry Synchronization Service services are set to Manual. In an HA configuration, if these services are started on another node, then they will not startup when the Controller service is started. If they are not detected as started on another node, or if there is no HA configuration, then they will start when the Controller service is started. This is why all three services are not present in the startup script (in an HA configuration, this would cause an error or three).

BlackBerry Enterprise Server:
Start Services:
Code:
net start "BlackBerry Router"
net start "BlackBerry Attachment Service"
net start "BlackBerry Dispatcher"
net start "BlackBerry MDS Connection Service"
net start "BlackBerry Alert"
net start "BlackBerry Controller"
Stop Services:
Code:
net stop "BlackBerry MailStore Service"
net stop "BlackBerry MDS Connection Service"
net stop "BlackBerry Dispatcher"
net stop "BlackBerry Attachment Service"
net stop "BlackBerry Controller"
net stop "BlackBerry Router"
net stop "BlackBerry Policy Service"
net stop "BlackBerry Synchronization Service"
net stop "BlackBerry Alert"
BlackBerry Administration Service
Start Services:
Code:
net start "BlackBerry Administration Service - Application Server"
net start "BlackBerry Administration Service - Native Code Container"
Stop Services:
Code:
net stop "BlackBerry Administration Service - Native Code Container" /Y
net stop "BlackBerry Administration Service - Application Server"
net stop "BlackBerry Administration Service - Native Code Container"
I will add others when I can. It's just closer to 5:00 AM and I need to get to bed now.

Updated the BAS Stop script to include an additional 'net stop' for the NCC service. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this service does a great job of stopping the initial time and you have to issue another stop to it.

I have only 1 BES 5.0 server with no remote components & no HA.

I have not installed any Transport tool or monitoring stuff yet.

I need to shut services down manually before applying the MR2.

According to your info, below is the order I would stop these, correct?

"BlackBerry MailStore Service"
"BlackBerry MDS Connection Service"
"BlackBerry Dispatcher"
"BlackBerry Attachment Service"
"BlackBerry Controller"
"BlackBerry Router"
"BlackBerry Policy Service"
"BlackBerry Synchronization Service"
"BlackBerry Alert"

then:

"BlackBerry Administration Service - Native Code Container" /Y
"BlackBerry Administration Service - Application Server"
"BlackBerry Administration Service - Native Code Container"

You can just apply MR2. No need to shutdown services, as the installer will shut them down for you.
