I have been a BIS user for 2 yrs now using a company berry. There has been only a couple of us using BBs and now lots more are making the switch. Well recently I found out our company got Blackberry Professional version 4.1.4.3.

This is my first time on BES/BPS. One thing I didn't know was about the email icon..... there isnt one. All the company messages are delivered into the messages folder along with my personal BIS email and my BB messenger messages.

I do NOT like this at all. For 2 yrs I've used separate email account icons and have just had the messages item hidden.



Can someone enlighten me on how we can do either one of the following:

make it so only company email shows up in my messages folder (without filters or using Empower)
or give me a BES email icon.

I've had our IT guy try this

and he said it will not work because BPS lacks some features of a full blown BES server.

Does anyone have any other ideas.... its driving me crazy to the point of thinking about going back to BIS.

Your admin is correct. There's nothing you can do.

You've already ruled out Empower and Filters.

Enterprise messages will go into the Messages icon on the device, unless the BES is configured to separate them into their own icon.

Enterprise-Only messaging is not an option on BPS.

I've ran the empower trial before and it looks like all it does it create another icon for mail and upon opening runs an automated filter that only allows emails from BES to be visable.

When opened I can see email from other BIS accounts for about 0.5 second then they disappear.

Yep, that's exactly how it works. Most BIS/BES users (that I've encountered) who've used this software were less than impressed with the results.

If you give it some time you will probably get used to it. A lot of people don't like this at first (I didn't) but now I like the way it's designed. I don't bother using the individual message icons anymore and I create search filters for items I want to be able to isolate easily.

Give it a little while; you may like it.
