Issues with the Verizon 9630 Tour
This is not going to be a detailed review of the Tour. Rather, I'm just going to note some issues/annoyances that I've encountered in the two days since switching to this device from the AT&T Bold.
Overall, I like the device and Verizon's service so I've decided to keep it (for now).
Call quality is great. Physical size/weight of the device is awesome and just feels good to carry.
Screen is beautiful.
Here's what I don't like:
- Battery Life. It stinks. I get about 1 full day of moderate use before needing to recharge it. Maybe this is "normal" compared to GSM devices. I haven't used a CDMA device in a long time.
- HUGE font when receiving emails from GMail users. Seriously, the font is tremendous and no amount of fiddling with font options on the device will resolve it. Bizarre bug.
- Sluggishness. Maybe I'm used to the Bold which was very snappy in overall navigation. The Tour lags a bit in menus and choosing icons.
- No sleeve! I like the sleeve. I want a sleeve. RIM doesn't have the sleeve (yet).
- No WiFi. I knew this going in and didn't think I'd miss it. I sorta do miss it.
Hopefully some OS updates will address the first three items.

The battery life sounds about right for CDMA. If I am emailing/texting/IM'ing a lot with my Sprint Curve, I have to charge it every night.
Sluggishness.....icky. I post how 'snappy' my Sprint Tour is next week when I get it.

Some follow up...
Battery Life is alright. Definitely nowhere near what my Bold was, but if I remember to charge the Tour overnight, I'm good for the following day.
I don't miss WiFi anymore. EVDO is plenty quick for my needs and coverage is good wherever I go.
HUGE Font Problem... this one really sucks. I surely hope this is at the top of RIM's bug list to be addressed in the next OS update.

font seems to be any plaintext email and hopefully will be fixed in next release
sluggish compared to my bold but still pretty snappy
side buttons seem to need a firm pressing to work properly
no wifi (before last week i couldn't have cared less about this, but i was in Virginia beach where there was no signal and i had my bold with wifi connected to get data which was great)

I'm finding the TOUR to be quite quick in comparison to my 8830. I've never done much with the Bold, so that may be good for my comaprisons. Battery life seems to be ok, although the Tour takes forever to reboot when given the "three fingered salute". I find the EVDO coverage great wherever I am, and since i've never had wifi on a BB, I can't say I miss it.

So far, the main thing I'm not liking about the Tour is the trackball. I like the low profile, but my model doesn't seem to react to movement well, almost like I have to press and roll it to move.
Hate the case that came it it too, but that's not a huge deal to me.

i notice this as well. it is especially annoying while playing ka-glom . i am hopeful that it is something that can be fixed with an os update.

also i noticed that pressing the trackball might cause another key to be pushed though im unsure of which one.
i noticed this when typing my password to unlock the device. i type my password and hit the trackball to enter it and it says invalid password, type the same password and hit the enter key and it works. ironically enough i also noticed something similar in kaglom, when in the puzzle mode listings, when i press the track ball to select my level, it selects the one after it.

It's taking me sometime to get used to the keys being closer together than my 8830. Overall I like the keyboard on the Tour better than the 8830. I'm glad to lose the silver keys backlit with blue.

I just switched from TM 8900 to Tour. Still have the service (on hold) but sold the BB. I think I made a mistake. verizon now sending me my 3rd unit. Bluetooth always sounds like a tunnel and barely audable when working. On many of my connectiosn w/o BT, the caller tells me that they cant hear me well. Are others reporting same issues? Anything we can do?
