Default nbesmigration.exe

Hello people.

Firstly... good to meet up with some of you at WES... Always good to be able to put a name to a face!

After some advice around the nbesmigration tool. It's not something I have played with too much and wondered if anyone else has used it at all.

From what i am reading in the upgrade guides this seems to be the early version of the transporter tool released with the BES 5 RK.

If I have an old dominio BES (4.0.7) say BES A with 200 users running aginst MSDE db and want to migrate them to the new BES (4.1.6) on new hardware say BES B also running MSDE DB. Can I do the following:

1. Install the new BES on the new hardware but do not start the services, use the same SRP ID & Key. Different hostname but same BES name. New MSDE DB created at install time.

2. Use nbesmigration to migrate the users across to the new BES B. (Do the domino state databases and other domino db's get moved by nbesmigration ok?)

3. Stop BES A.

4. Start BES B and all will just kick into life?

What exactly does nbesmigration tool do... Does it move all the relevant domino state and profile databases as well as adding the users to the new database?

Unfortunately I don't have a domino lab to play around in and test the tool

Your thoughts much appreicated!

R.

Anyone a Domino whiz?

You effectively want to do a Knife-Edge cutover ...

Start on page 32 of the Domino 4.1.6 Upgrade Guide ... nbesmigration usage is in there too
