Thats my goal as well. I am sure for my purposes RIM will give me a non-temp SRP to use in the test environment. It would help them greatly to get a trial in house set up. (not to mention us!)

I upgraded our production server to BES 5 yesterday.
Did an in-place upgrade and it went through without any problems at all.
(Shame, actually. I tend to learn more by breaking things and figuring out how to fix it.)
Today, I added the standby BES to the BlackBerry Domain and tested it out. Not too bad!
Primary and Standby BES are both running in VMs with remote SQL 2005 database.
Next I'll try to tackle mirroring the SQL database as I have a second SQL 2005 server to play around with.

Lucky Both, you have a production upgrade mid week, and Joolie has a standard maintenance window!

Otto and I attended the WES session on RIM's production implementation of BES 5. Personally, I think it was one of the best session I attended. Anyway, they used the transport tool to migrate users during the middle of the business day, up to 1000 users at a time. Sounds like that kind of upgrade has about the same user impact as moving a user from one BES to another.

*cough cough* How soon you forget I was at the same session!
The transport tool is a very nice feature, though I am still wary of trying it with any important users lol

Huh... I don't remember seeing you, but wasn't really looking. This wasn't the one where the three of us were standing in the back. That was the session on whats planned now that BES 5 is out.
