I now have a fix for this, see below
To disable the ability of sending IBM® Lotus Notes® native encryption encoding messages from BlackBerry devices activated on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server please follow the steps below.
Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Microsoft® Windows® operating system. Document and back up the registry entries prior to implementing any changes.
On the computer that hosts the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, on the Start menu, click Run.
Type regedit.
Click OK.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents (for 64-bit BlackBerry Enterprise Server this registry key will be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents) Right-click the registry key entitled NNEWritingCapable and select Modify.
In the Value data field, please change the value to 0.
Click OK.
After you finish: Restart the BlackBerry Messaging Agent. Please stop, pause for a few seconds (i.e. do not use the restart option) and start the BlackBerry Dispatcher (to restart the nbes task which will reload the threading settings) after the settings have been changed. This can be done in the Microsoft Services application (services.msc) or via the BAS:
- Navigate to BAS > Servers and components> BlackBerry Solution topology > BlackBerry Domain > Component view > BlackBerry Enterprise Server
- Click on the [BlackBerry Enterprise Server] in question
- Select Stop instance (not Restart Instance)
- Wait a few seconds
- Select Start instance
Important: Restarting the BlackBerry Enterprise Server or its services may delay message delivery to BlackBerry smart phones.
You may also need to resend service books to the devices for this to be picked up
