I'm researching the various BES monitoring tools. The target company is very small, about 20 users max. Everyone is recommending GSX. They have a agreement with Microsoft and have been told SCOM would be ideal, I'm personally more inclined to go System Centre Essentials due to their size instead of SCOM. Three very different products in reality, but will SCOM and SCE be able to monitor BES/Exchange to the level of GSX, and is GSX "just" for the mail infrastructure?

To be honest with "only"20 users I´d recommend so save your money and take a closer look at the free BlackBerry Monitoring Service that comes with the BES

I'm with magikweis the built in Monitoring service should give you what you need for such a small setup, just remember to install it on a remote computer. SCOM does not have any native BES monitoring features, it will just monitor the OS (Running SCOM Here) If you want native BES monitoring and SCOM integration you'll have to deploy SCOM and possibly something like BOXTONE to provide BES specific notifications to SCOM

We were thinking BES Express? Does express also have the monitoring tool??

Reason I was thinking SCOM and SCE was that there are (apparently) good free management packs for BES that work under SCOM, and should work under SCE as well. We were quoted for a SLA from a external provider for GSX, but I dont know a thing about it.
