Default how rim servers works

hi, me again
i have installed a bes 5 server with my exch2007, all goes fine, all 50 bb works!
i have understand that the bes checks the exch mail repository and if it sees a new mail immediately send it to rim servers. ok. how the rim servers send mail messages send by users' bb to exch?
i ask this because i have instelled using offcial bb guide, and it does not asked me to open or nat ANY ip/port outside.
so i suppose that is the bes server to do all the work in a "reverse" way, am i correct?

Eh in a nutshell...

The BES server is constantly checking for new email in users inboxes, it does this via two methods, notify and rescan. Once the BES gets the message, it relays through rims NOC on port 3101 outbound (bi-directional, initiated outbound) traffic and from there it is send to the users hand held via the wireless carrier.
Who cares, RIM will just change how they do Cert's again

thank you, but there was a misunderstanding
i know how bes sends out email
NOT how rim noc send IN bb mails if i have my firewall closed (and it is working anyhow, so i suppose bes make some sort of "reverse" connection from in to out)

BES initially makes a connection to RIM's NOC using TCP port 3101.
While BES is running, that connection remains open and allows inbound and outbound traffic to/from BES.

Here are some more details about how this all works...

The BlackBerry Dispatcher tells the BlackBerry Router to initiate an outbound connection to the BlackBerry Infrastructure on TCP port 3101. After the Router connects, the Dispatcher sends the BES SRP ID and Key to the Infrastructure to authenticate itself. Once authenticated, the Router maintains the connection open for bi-directional traffic.

When a user sends a message from the BlackBerry device, the device compresses & encrypts the packet and puts the routing information in the header. For messages sent from the device, the routing information is from the Desktop [CMIME] service book. The UID field contains the SRP ID of the BES the device is associated with. The packet travels through the wireless network to the BlackBerry Infrastructure. The Infrastructure checks to see if the SRP is connected and if it is, the Infrastructure routes the packet to the BES where it is processed.

On the flip side...

In Exchange 2007, the Exchange server sends a UDP packet to the Messaging Agent notifying it that the user has a new message. The Messaging Agent then accesses the user's mailbox to retrieve the message. In Exchange environments, the Messaging Agent also rescans mailboxes every 15-30 minutes in case an UDP packet gets lost on its way to the BES.
