I think it is more the fact that if the device is now currently working it's a moot point to go back in the logs to find out why it wasn't working. If I were looking, I'd see if the logs show contact rescan happening and completing, if it is then as per 99% of the time, the end user is lieing. If not then I'd look for errors like 8004005f meaning that contact sync failed. After that there's no real smoking gun saying it's working or no and here's a fix. End point being it's now working so how much effort do you want to put into determining the end user was lieing or they were doing it wrong...
