I have a very perplexing issue with the often-discussed calendar sync problem where events entered on the BB do not migrate to Exchange/Outlook.

My environment is the old BPS and SBS 2003 Exchange -- both installed on one box. We don't really have an IT department -- I'm it, and I'm a statistics geek . This is a very small business. BPS was installed by an outside contractor who came in and helped out, but he is stumped by this one as well.

There are only two users, both of whom have 9630s. My 9630 works fine without any problems other than those inherent to BPS (e.g., no html email). When the BPS was first installed (3 years ago) I had to resolve the MAPI/CDO issues that are typically associated with sync problems and the calendar, and this was accomplished and everything has worked fine (for me) since then.

The other 9630 is a slightly different issue. It exhibits the classic problem of one-way sync, even though mine does not. She doesn't have much in the way of apps installed on that device -- only RexWireless ToDoMatrix and RexConnect -- so it is a pretty vanilla installation. Among the things I have tried to do to fix this problem are:

• De-activated wireless sync and then re-activated after 30 minutes.
• Updated the original 4.7 operating system without wiping the device.
• Wiped the device and re-installed the 4.7 operating system.
• Upgraded the OS to 5.0 after a complete wipe.
• Called Sprint and had the phone replaced.
• Removed the user from the BPS, and re-installed.

I am really stumped on this one, and anything you can do to help me out would be very much appreciated.

You say that your having one-way cal

Typically one-way calendar sync issues are caused due to permissions issues. I would check to ensure that all the permissions were setup correctly (ie BESAdmin account is not a full exhange admin which will cause permissions to be revoked causing cal sync issues). Thank you. I will double check the BESAdmin permissions issue, but that was one of the things that I had to correct back when I first installed the BPS and had to resolve a similar issue with my initial installation. I will also run through the troubleshoot recommendations of KB05270 again.

However, having said that, wouldn't it be the case that the cal sync issues should be manifested on both devices if the problem is with BESAdmin permissions? Or am I completely out to lunch with that assumption?

DJM, one would think that you'd see the issue on all devices however that's not always the case. For example, if the BESAdmin account is part of the domain admins group it can cause many different issues and it's not always reproducable or the same for every environment. It's like putting suger in your tank, your car will work for a while but eventually it's going to stop running. Sometimes it will work for years until you change something in your environment and then it will exacerbate the core problem and make it noticable or break it entirely.
