Default BES 5.0 Monitoring console problem

Hi all

I have got the known issue whereby I cannot log into my Monitoring console because of the certificate expiry issue that RIM have confirmed.

KB24347-Unable to log in to the BlackBerry Monitoring Console

Now, I'm in the position where I have my monitoring component installed on my Primary BES server, so the fix for this problem looks like a real pain for me, and risky at that.

I do have a second, HA server that I can fail over to, but I was hoping someone who has been through this could advise on how painful it was to remove the monitoring tool? I understand that in order to uninstall it, the process involves removing ALL BES components from my primary server, and then re-installing all of them EXCEPT the Monitoring one.... ?

It has been about 12 months since I built this system, so my memory is hazy as to how long it took to perform a BES Server Software install. I have documentation I took which records the settings I input, but I did not take snapshots of the screens etc. I cant remember for instance if I need to re-enter SRP addresses and so on.

Is there no other way around this apart from removing the monitoring component?

Hey Millardus,

You are certainly NOT required to uninstall all BES components to remove the monitoring services from your primary server. You will however, be required to take down bes (since the installer stops your services) so if you have HA setup I would suggest failing manually over to your secondary server, running the setup for BES on the primary, simply DESELECT the monitoring service during the install (leaving all the components you want left installed on the server) and completing rest of the install. Note, you will never be required to re-input SRP/Auth keys or cal licenses as long as you are pointing to an existing DB.

Thanks for that Helix Felix, very good to know it's not as "clunky" as I have been led to believe. Originally I installed BES 5.0 and there wa sno SP. I am now on SP2. I take it I can just run the SP2 installer to perform this task?

Cheers
Tom
