Default Transporter

Transporter experience so far has been luke warm at best.

So far I have used the Transporter for three servers (Three separate customers, Exchange 2007, Exchange 2010 and Domino 8.5) moves and I have to admit that I have not been as impressed as I originally thought with the product. I have found myself getting random errors, having to create extra manifests, users not getting the SWITCH command in a timely manner and some other problems that I will go into detail when I have time to post more. My question would be, has anyone else had these problems?

We are just starting our migration. I am definatly not impressed with the transporter.

What is a normal amount of time for 20 users to migrate? Earlier this week it took 2 1/2 HOURS to migrate 20 users.

We are also troubleshooting were the migrations are 'successful' but the users cant send or receive email. We may have found where this might be due to a particular IT policy rule (still testing). But seriously, how can the transporter call that a successful migration.

personally I've had pretty good results.. I hate the time it takes to move but in my case I'm using transporter for user management as my user population tends to move around the world somwhat frequently (I.E. be hosted out of Datacentre 1 for 6 mo, then Datacentre 2 for 12 mo,etc...)

My biggest gripe with is is that it cannot deal with mixed mode BES domains - we're in BES 4/5 co-existance mode in our largest domain, we can use transporter to move users out, just not into it.

Have used to the tool for 10K+ users. Very few issues. 6-7 mins a user at MAX to move. Recommended to run the tool during working hours for live mode.

There are advanced settings where you can set higher concurrence levels.

500 user moves a day should not be hard to attain.

Having moved almost 2000 users for customers in both Exchange and Domino enviroments and I have to agree Hooper, transporter works very well with few issues.
The only slow transports have been across a WAN but internally between SQL databases, 20 users in 10 minutes is very common.
This week, BES 416 to BES 502, both databases on the same SQL server, 63 users in 24 minutes, yesterday BES 501 to BES 502 (dont ask) 70 users in groups of 10, around 12 minutes depending on time to apply the policy, if the device is off, it takes longer.
All up, very good and useful tool.

thanks for the input.

For live mode, you guys haven't gotten error messages? like the program crashing with some programming errors? I have had this happen in multiple environments, and gotten RIM on the phone and they have acknowledged that the product has draw backs. Mainly in live mode. Although I've never tried it during work hours.

Thanks guys
