Default Junior Help Desk Functions

My employeer is getting closer to being ready to migrate from BES 4.1.7 to BES 5.0.2. I am working on documentation for users who will be assigned the Junior Help Desk role. Ran into a little snag.

Previously the Junior Help Desk role was able to resend service books and IT policies. But those functions don't seem to be available to that role in BAS.

I did find articles on how to perform the functions via BAS. But there is no mention of which roles can perform the function. I didn't see anything in the admin guide that would allow the assignment of those particular functions.

Does anyone know if its possible to grant the resend service books and IT policies functions to the Junior Help Desk role?

OK, so I think I figured it out. I granted the Junior Help Desk role the resend data to device function. This seemed to give me access to the functions I wanted.

However... I can't find that particular setting documented anywhere on the BlackBerry website. My concern now is making sure that I am not giving the Junior Help Desk role access to something that was not intended.

Anyone have any insight on this what this resend data to device function allows?

Hi,

We have option to tweak a permission settings because, Administration levels will vary from organisation to organization. Example: In my company, 1st level support can assign the device to users, resend the service books etc..

The "Resend data to device" privilege only allows the role to resend service books and IT policies to the BlackBerry device.

If you want to see all the privileges each role is assigned, take a look at section 3 of the BES 5.0.2 Admin Guide.

One thing I usually remove from the Junior Helpdesk role is the ability to edit groups. In BES 5.0.2, they have locked this down to just 2 groups - Helpdesk Group and Web Desktop users.
