Default UAE/India and Blackberries, how is your organization planning on dealing with it?

Hi Everyone,

As you may have seen the UAE's possible Ban on BB services in Oct is generating alot of coverage on the tubes... Since I work for an organization that provides BB services to users in those regions I'm wondering what other organizations in a similar boat are thinking of doing if the ban becomes a reality.

BlackBerry dispute widens control debate - The Globe and Mail

Some ideas/thoughts:
Deploy/enable/Support other mobile device(s) for the impacted regions (e.g. iPhone,etc...)
Move your BES servers out of impacted regions
etc.....

Just wondering what anyone else in the same boat is pondering. WHen we have a better idea of what we're pondering I'll update.

Appreciate your thoughts
Z

From the other articles I've seen/read, this will affect not only citizens, but visitors as well - so BB's won't work for data at all, no matter what their home carrier is.

So far we're just watching and waiting to see what happens.... and if it comes to that, then I'm sure our plan will be to deploy tin cans and string.

"then I'm sure our plan will be to deploy tin cans and string. "

What!??!!?.. RIM announced another new device today? I wonder what BES IT policies it will support? And here I was thinking that 9800 is pretty suhweet... I heard the new "tin cans and string" has unlimited battery life, execellent security (if someone taps the conenction, the connection is "cut/severed") and comes in many Flavors! (Hrmm... BES managed SPAM)

Sorry could'nt resist

Messages went out to our users today, and will filter through the rest of DoD shortly (if they have not already)

Sith,

What did the messages say? Don't count on your BlackBerry for the next few days/weeks/months/years?
