any devices that support the encryption method of BES will work, not all BES features will be available unless the devices are at the proper OS level

Default Talk to your carrier

Best is to talk to your carrier... while RIM might have BBOS 5 updates for all the devices you have... if the carrier does not release it you don't have official support for it.

I've been waiting for months for my carrier to release BBOS 5 for my BB 8900s and Bold 9000s. Other carriers in Canada have released the updates but mine (*cough* Rogers *cough*) hasn't gotten around to it yet.

Regards,
Z

We had some problems with older Curves running 4.3 OS and WAV attachments. Upgraded them to 4.5 and problems went away.

Hello,

Would you share some experience about the upgrade?
Was everything straightforward as RIM says?
What type of upgrade you used?

Thanks

My upgrade, was add a BES 5 HA pair to a BES 4 domain then move devices between servers. Reasonably smooth with one exception. We use An enterprise policy to only allow select approved devices. We were not able to add new devices after we did the database schema upgrades for BES 5. This was fixed with a call to RIM & they created a SQL script to fix. This is somthing that's probabally specific to my domain as its been around forever and started as a BES 2 domain.
