Default Blocking MMS

I am trying to block a user from sending and receiving MMS messages.

I found the option within the IT Polocy to block sending MMS messages however the rules refrences the following in order to block receiving them;

"Note: To block incoming MMS messages, set the Firewall Block Incoming Messages IT policy rule in the Security policy group."

Does anyone know what they are talking about? I'm not familiar with the "Firewall Block Incoming Messages IT policy". I am running BESX.

Thanks.

David

Check the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express Policy Reference Guide to confirm what can and cannot be set with BESX.

That said, if you look at:

Common Policy Group > Disable MMS

You can set this to true (the default is false) and will prevent users of the policy from sending / receiving MMS messages.

Ok. Thank you. I enable the "Disable MMS" on the policy and the applied it to myself just to see how it worked. I certainly could no longer send new MMS messages, but I could still receive them.

Seems like a BUG ... or actually I think it's just incorrect in the documentation. To stop incoming MMS try using the firewall in options.

OK. Where is the firewall in options on BESX?

In BES you can set firewall options for the device, in BESX it appears as though you cannot. You'd need to set this manually on the device.

Ok. How would I manually set that on the device?

That may be too obvious anyways. This phone is on a corporate account with Verizon Wireless. Do you think they can block MMS on their end?

Options > Security Options > Firewall > Block Incoming Messages

This is on HH OS 5.0.
