Cool BBConvert.exe - Unable To Locate Component

Hows it going? Just thought i'd introduce myself since this is my first post. I'm Nick, I'm a Sys Admin for a Baltimore based sports apparel company (I wont mention the name, but i'm sure you guys can figure it out).

I'm getting about ~10k of these messages in the Event log...

"BBConvert.exe - Unable To Locate Component : This application has failed to start because WMVCore.DLL was not found"

I found this KB article, and followed it exactly. The command executes with no error - but doesn't prompt to restart, nor did it resolve the issue.

"BBConvert.exe - Unable To Locate Component : This application has failed to start because WMVCore.DLL was not found" error appears in the System Log on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server when a .wav attachment is opened on a BlackBerry Smartphone

Anyone else have this problem?

Being a month late on the post, I don't know if this is of any help.

I just finished my little BES install and was having the same error show up in the logs. Being installed on a Win 2K8 Server, I had to add the "Desktop Experience" feature to the server via the manager in order to install the WMVcore.dll. Haven't seen the error logged since...

I found this on RIM's site.

"BBConvert.exe - Unable To Locate Component: This application has failed to start because WMVCore.DLL was not found" error message appears in the System Log on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server when a .wav attachment is opened on a BlackBerry Smartpho

Although installing the Desktop Experience feature on Windows 2008 will also install the Windows Media Format Package, installing Desktop Experience will install Windows Mail as well, which will cause MAPI failures on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. For this reason, it is recommended to follow the steps above to install the Windows Media Format Package.
