Default Different carrier OS 5 software loaded on Web Desktop?

Currently migrating from BES 4.1.6 to BES 5. Both BES server's are up and running well. Am in the middle of some configurations including setting up the Blackberry Web Desktop system. I would like to be able to have some users upgrade their handheld's device software.

Unfortunately the server only allows using software builds for your devices carriers. However, Rogers here in Canada has not released any official OS 5 builds for the 9000 or 8900 handhelds. However, other's including Bell have.

Anyway to perhaps "edit" the vender.xml to allow for this? All the great features of BES 5 are opened with OS 5 and most users still have BOLD 9000's not the 9700.

Just curious if anyone is dealing with this?

Thanks

Won´t work.

the device.xml is automatically updated by your BES and stored in the SQL-database - there´s no chance to provide an OS package to a device that does not have the correct vendor-id

Instead of using the Web Desktop Manager, you could deploy "Application Loader Lite". Install the firmware packages onto a server where no BES components are installed and share the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\ as RIM. Delete vendor.xml from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. Your users could now use the link to \\<server>\RIM\AppLoader\Loader.exe to install the given firmware packages onto their BlackBerry devices. The user computers need to have BlackBerry Device Manager installed.
