Unhappy BES Express on Exchange Server

Hello,

I apologize if I should have started a new thread, but I'm having the same issue as gmilne67, but I'm using Blackberry Enterprise Server Express. According to the system requirements, it clearly supports being used on the same server as Microsoft Exchange (which is how I'm trying to set it up). I did follow through KB02276, and while I looked at the others mentioned in this thread, they seemed to be specifically for BES, not BES Expresss.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I've moved your post to its own thread as you're using different software.

You're seeing error 5305? What version of Exchange are you using?

Thanks for the reply...and sorry for the initial lack of info... I'll try to provide as much info as possible.

Windows Server 2003 SP2
MS Exchange 2003 (v 6.5.7638.1)

I followed the pre-installation tasks as outlined, and the install went well, and no report of errors, services started etc. I'm pretty certain it is a setting and/or permission with the BESadmin account that is the problem. Here is the current status...

If I login to the server as a user (with Admin rights), and I try to vew/edit the MAPI profile in the Blackberry Server Configuration, and it says "The MAPI subsystem cannot be correctly initialized & used. Please make sure MAPI is installed & configured correctly" If I login as the BESadmin, I can access the MAPI info (which is set to BESadmin as per the installation instructions).

Also, when accessing the Blackberry Administration Service, I can see the device connected (via USB), but cannot assign it to a user. I can also see it when using the Blackberry Web Desktop Manager, but when I try to assign it to the user (that is logged into the Web desktop manager), it says it can't retreive specific device information, and to contact your admin.

One other detail...when I set an activation password and try an OTA activation I can see the email in Outlook, but it never processes, and ultimately get a message to the effect that the OTA activation isn't responding.

I am on a BES plan and was previously on an old BES...the plan was to move to BES Express.

If you need any further info, please let me know...

Thanks in advance!!

RIM is offering a free support case for BES Express. You have to use it within 60 days of download. Might as well work with them as it expires anyway.
