Default Blackberry Calendar Issue - External Orgs

When attempting to send a meeting request from a blackberry to someone outside of our ogranization (the recipient is a contact in our GAL via SimpleSync.) Using an SMTP address (manually typed in) as opposed to doing a lookup, the emails will show the exchange legacy DN and the recipient will not receive the invite. Reason being that the exchange legacy DN is not valid for their organization only for ours. If I do lookup on the meeting request it works fine. Why is the blackberry sending to a exchange legacy DN when I input the email address of the recipient manually and not when I do a lookup?

Anyone else seen this?

the BES is most likely performing and LDAP query on the contact within your orgs AD. For whatever reason the BES cannot find an SMTP address to associate with that user so it returns their legacy exchange DN.

are the bes and exchange server these users are located on different domains? i had a similar issue where u would do a lookup from the device for a user (within our org but on a diff domain) and it would return the legacy exchange DN. i fixed it setting the LDAP stuff (mainly the basedn search query) in the registry according to one of rim's kb articles
