Hello,

i search for the complete cod files for the app blackberry messenger in the version 5.0.0.57.
i am the admin of the blackberry infrastructure and we closed the way to download apps from the internet. therefore i need this cod files.
RIM says goto the website www.blackberry.com/messenger with the blackberry browser and download it. But this is not possible.

Have anyone an URL to find out where i can get this cod files ?

At this time, RIM does not supply an application package for BlackBerry Messenger which can be deployed via BES software configuration.

With a little creativity, you can probably make one yourself... but it can be a bit tricky and you risk deploying the wrong modules to your devices.

Other than lifting the application install restriction temporarily, I don't see a simple way to resolve your problem. You're unfortunately stuck between a rock and hard place here.

Hi Rob, I actually just deployed BBM 5.0.0.57 tonight via BES 5.0.1 to my 8350i phones.

I used blackberry's website to install the app onto a test phone, I then used (Blackberry Master Control Program) to great a ALX/JAD/COD zip file i loaded on my BES server. It took about 8-10 minutes OTA to install and prompts the user to Reboot now or Later on the phone.

Well done - any compatible application can be pushed from the BES - just make sure your device.xml and vendor.xml files are up to date on the BES, put the app in the software repository and add it to the software deployment configuration assigned to the users who need the ap. If users have aged devices or need to update their firmware, the install will fail with an easily understood error.

If only we could remove RIM-signed applications such as sametime / lcs-ocs client too
