Default Google Maps version

Anyone know another way to download the alx and cod files for Google Maps? When I go to Google Mobile - Enterprise and download the files from there I get version 3.0.1, but if I download direct to my Blackberry I get version 3.2.1.

Folks,
It is pretty easy to build your own installer package. There are two ways to do this.
1. Install the app on your phone and use javaloader to pull off the cod files. This isn't preferred as there maybe different versions for each handheld OS/device. Plus it doesn't preserve the original cod identifiers.

2. Spoof your useragent in firefox so that you can download the jad file. Not all sites require you to do this. Some will let you get to the mobile site very easily. Google isn't one of them. Google reads the useragent of your browser and will direct you away. Once you get to the mobile site, just download the jad file. In it will be links to all the cods. Just create an alx from that.

I prefer number 2 as it is cleaner, plus it allows for upgrades from the source site seamlessly.

In the case of google maps for 4.7 touchscreen OS and higher, the server structure is like this, just download each one:
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...GoogleMaps.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...ogleMaps-1.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...ogleMaps-2.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...ogleMaps-3.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...ogleMaps-4.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...ogleMaps-5.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...ogleMaps-6.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...ogleMaps-7.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...ogleMaps-8.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...ogleMaps-9.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...gleMaps-10.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...gleMaps-11.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...gleMaps-12.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...gleMaps-13.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...gleMaps-14.cod
http://m.google.com/maps/download/bi...gleMaps-15.cod

See the attached alx file as an example of how you would do this for different devices (could easily be handheld OS versions as well).

I downloaded version 3.2.1 to my BB, then extracted the .cod and generated the .alx with MCP. It works like a champ.

Just keep in mind that this won't be a good process for building a package and deploying to your users.

what's the drawback? I've deployed the 3.2.1 version as a test (pulled it from my 9630 and pushed to an 8830) and it seems to work just fine. what am I missing?

If the technologies are similar, not much. However, different versions have been designed for different OS versions. Google basically took the software and recompiled it in each version of the JDE (except the latest). It may not be that much different from 4.7.1 to 4.5 (or whatever versions you have them), but it gets tricky when dealing with certain code that has been removed from newer versions or certain features that may or may not be fully backwards compatible.

Got it. Google has been slow to update their "enterprise" version of google maps, it's still at 3.0.1. So far the 3.2.1 has been functioning fine (knock on wood).
