Google Maps version
Anyone know another way to download the alx and cod files for Google Maps? When I go to Google Mobile - Enterprise and download the files from there I get version 3.0.1, but if I download direct to my Blackberry I get version 3.2.1.

I downloaded version 3.2.1 to my BB, then extracted the .cod and generated the .alx with MCP. It works like a champ.

Just keep in mind that this won't be a good process for building a package and deploying to your users.

what's the drawback? I've deployed the 3.2.1 version as a test (pulled it from my 9630 and pushed to an 8830) and it seems to work just fine. what am I missing?

If the technologies are similar, not much. However, different versions have been designed for different OS versions. Google basically took the software and recompiled it in each version of the JDE (except the latest). It may not be that much different from 4.7.1 to 4.5 (or whatever versions you have them), but it gets tricky when dealing with certain code that has been removed from newer versions or certain features that may or may not be fully backwards compatible.

Got it. Google has been slow to update their "enterprise" version of google maps, it's still at 3.0.1. So far the 3.2.1 has been functioning fine (knock on wood).
