Default Any way to "Auto-Magically" apply a policy to a group of users

Hi Everyone,

The answer to this Q seems like a "no" but I thought I would ask anyway

Is there any way to dynamically assign/apply an IT policy to a group of BB users/devices. A few examples would be:
  • Apply the policy to all deivices running BBOS 5.x or later
  • Apply the policies to all users on carrier "x"
  • Apply the policy to all members of an AD group (ya I know I'm dreaming on this one)

My thought is that once a new user/device gets added to BES that meets one of the pre-defined conditions (I.E. is running BBOS 5) it would cause the BES to automatically apply a policy. Apart from creating some sort of custom SQL job (which gets interesting support wise) there does'nt seem to be any other option.

Just wondering if there is a way of doing so or if my initial assumption is correct.

As always, much appreciated,

Z

I thought I read that this was coming in a service pack for BES 5.0.

Afaik not 5.0 SP2 but maybe SP3 ?

I really like the idea but it does not go far enough. I would like BES to maintain also AD groups with different users (e.g. all 8900 users, ...).
I also would like BES to create a BB users when they are a added to an AD group.

Just dreaming ....

Greetings,

Ya the though was here is the same thing... can we create a policy that would apply only to BBOS 5x devices and possibly another for 97xx devices. We know we can manually add devices to a policy but it would be awesome if there was automated process to do so (like query based DLs in exchange).

Oh well ... mabye we'll get lucky and RIM will read this thread and implement

Regards,
Z
