Default Removing decommissioned 4.1 BES from a BES 5 Domain using BAS

Hi All,

I recently did a BES 5 cut over upgrade onto new hardware for a customer. After moving all the users from the 4.1 BES to the 5.0 BES was completed, the BES software was removed from the OLD server, the server was shutdown. We have been unsuccessfully trying to remove the OLD BES from the Blackberry Domain using BAS.

From BAS I went to the Servers and Components, Blackberry Domain, Component view, Blackberry Enterprise Server then View Components list. From here tried deleting any component for the OLD BES that had a red garbage bin next to it. Some components deleted, some didn’t.

I then tried to remove the OLD BES from the Blackberry Enterprise Server section of the component view, it gave me a list of pre requisites which were met, then told me “All pre conditions have been met for the BES to be deleted, are you sure ?” Yes, please delete. Then I get “The request could not be completed”. Yes the account used has the Security Admin role in BAS.

I have tried this in my lab and got the same result. The only way I could remove all components and the BES was to delete it directly from the database, but the customer doesn’t want to “hack” the database.

Have I missed something in this process or do we still need to remove some or all references directly from the database ?

I haven't been able to find anything useful in the logs.

Set up - Server 2003, SQL 2005 SP3, BES 5.0 MR2, Exchange 2003

Thanks
Dave
