Question Devices not Activating

Hi:

I've set up the BPS 4.1.4.3 carefully following the instructions; using the "New User Setup Wizard", I add one of my Admins as a new User (device has never been connected to any other BES), and he gets an EMAIL with an Activation password.

He takes that to his device and launches the process of adding his email address and then the password he was emailed, and then chooses "Activate"...

The Server just never gets that message, and Activation never happens.

We made sure Port 3101 is open on the Firewall and points to the IP address
of the BPS server...

What are we doing wrong?
Thanks!

Do you have a BES data plan provisioned on the user's wireless account?
Sounds like you may only have a BIS daa plan.

Additionally, you do NOT want to open up Port 3101 inbound through your firewall to your BES/BPS. Nor should you be doing any port forwarding at all.
BES/BPS only needs to be able to talk outbound on Port 3101 to RIM's network. (Outbound initiated bi-directional traffic on TCP Port 3101.)

I find the best way to check if you've got a active BES plan,
do an Enterprise Activation to an external account (like gmail/hotmail/etc), make up a password & see if you get the ETP@....blackberry.net

if you don't then there's a good possibility you don't have a BES plan (next step is to call your carrier).

If you do get the email, then the next step is to troubleshoot incoming email. (spam filters, did you type the correct email address, etc).
