Default Firmware Upgrade via Web Desktop Manager

Anyone got a manual how to upgrade a device firmware with BES 5 Web Desktop Manager ?

I installed the firmware on a network share and I´m able to see the packages on the BAS.

When I´m connecting a device to the WDM the button for the firmware upgrade is missing, even though a newer device firmware from the correct carrier is installed in the network share.

This is the manual I got from RIM:

Quote:
1. In the BlackBerry Administration Service, on the Servers
and components menu, expand BlackBerry Solution topology
> BlackBerry Domain > Component view > BlackBerry
Administration Service.
2. Click BlackBerry Administration Service.
3. Click Edit component.
4. In the Software management section, in the BlackBerry
Device Software deployment managed by BlackBerry
Administration Service drop-down list, click Yes.
5. Click Save All.

Add a shared network folder to the BlackBerry Administration
Service

1. In the BlackBerry Administration Service, on the
BlackBerry solution management menu, expand Software >
BlackBerry
device software.
2. Click Add shared network drive.
3. In the Shared network drive section, perform the
following actions:
• In the Name field, type a name for the shared network folder.
• In the Server file path field, type the path to the shared
network folder (for example, \\<server>
\<shared_network_folder>, where <server> is the name of the
computer that hosts the shared network folder.
4. Click Save.

Configure the BlackBerry Administration Service to find the
BlackBerry
Device Software

1. In the BlackBerry Administration Service, on the
BlackBerry solution management menu, expand Software >
BlackBerry
device software.
2. Click Manage shared network drives.
3. Click a shared network folder.
4. Click Execute shared network drive scan.

I had this working but never got the SSL cert working so I just gave up on it. Easier to just tell the user to wipe their device and use

BlackBerry - Update your Device Software.

Call me after its done for a EAP.

Default testing the first device upgrades now

So I just got this up and running a day ago, had someh ard time finding decent documentation on the topic but it seems to be working smoothly now.

However, I see that when I connect a BB and the WDM prompts for an update, the loader.exe starts up and runs in the background but there is no such thing as a progress monitor

This makes me sceptical of announcing the service to my users, considering that 50% of them will go tired after waiting more 30 minutes and pull the plug - even if they are specifically told not to.

Have you guys experienced the same or do you know of a way to make the loader.exe window visible througout the upgrade process?

Hey everyone,

Has anyone has any experience with deploying firmware from multiple carriers? I.E. BB 9700 for AT&T, Rogers wireless, t-mobile all at the same time?
