Cool Moving mailboxes to a new mailserver. Recommendations please?

Hi there BES fans,

I just need some advice really. we are thinking about moving all our mailboxes to a new (VMware) mailserver running Exchange 2003. We are currently using exchange 2003 so the only difference here being the VMware aspect.

What considerations should I be aware of when making this change. Will the BES know the mailboxes are on a different server? Is there any configuration I need to change on the BES. We are running BES 4.1.6.9.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Before you move mailboxes you need to make sure the BESAdmin account has the appropriate permissions on the new server: KB02276 - Assigning permissions for a BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account

After you move the mailboxes you should perform a handheldcleanup: KB00140 - Run handheldcleanup.exe

Are you also moving the BESAdmin mailbox?: KB03296 - How to move the BlackBerry service account mailbox

Other than the information in the KB articles there are no configuration changes that need to be made.

Cool

Hi Guys we have moved all the mailboxes. Since the BESadmin account was a member of enterprise admins we didnt have to give access rights on the new exchange. We are having sync issues between the devices and mailboxes but to be honest we always have sync issues.

Thanks for the guidence guys

The BESAdmin account should not be a member of the Enterprise Admins group ... AdminSDHolder.
