Pandora & Slacker...
Morning all.
I've got an issue where I need to be able to allow a few people to play Pandora & Slacker Radio (long story!).
But, with the I.T. Policy I have them in, it won't allow it to play, but does allow them to download the respective application(s)...
If I put them in my I.T. Policy, i.e. no restrictions, it works. But, I'm trying to figure out which rule/option in the 'users' policy I need to change to thus allow it to work for them for their BlackBerry...
Any ideas?

What do you have set for the IT Policy they are in?

The only thing I see which is different from a security standpoint is:
Allow Internal Connections = TRUE/FALSE
shouldn't these apps be using BIS and not MDS? or do they use MDS if it exists?

They should be using BIS. At present, we don't have MDS setup, and we're not even using it.
So, are you saying in the settings of said applications (Pandora / Slacker, and any others) they should be selecting BIS?

it should auto detect which transports it can use and use that transport.
Do you have a software configuration applied to the users? ... with any application control policy perhaps?

I would agree. I don't see much in the 'restrictive' IT policy that would actually restrict anything. If anything, there are a lot of options that are configured that are defaults already (e.g. - Allow Phone, Allow Browser, et al). There's no real point of specifying these policy options if their default values are what you're setting them to anyhow. Not saying it's wrong, but it does makes it more confusing to keep up with, to be honest.

Thanks for the input. As a matter of fact, after a conversation with the I.T. Director, I'm going to have one policy that allows everything, BUT, I'll turn the password option on. Meaning every device is forced to have a password, with X characters, and will be forced on every X minutes...
To be honest, it's a small company, with about 100 BES licenses, and they're not too bothered about security etc. I've tried, and tried to explain it to them the importance of security. So I've thus forced the issue about setting the password option...
So, again, thanks for all the info.

Glad to hear you got them to accept the password policy. There is no excuse for everyone to not have a password on their device.
