Does your friend already have Active Directory & Exchange in place? (or Domino)

What is he looking to do with BES? Just email? Contact / Calendar sync too? Will the 5 grow to 10? 15? 100?

BPS is the right price ... but it lacks HTML email and possible support going forward ...

Comparison: BlackBerry - BlackBerry Professional Software

Summary: BPS $500 + server cost ... BES: $4500 + server cost ... both scenarios = $100 more per user

Tell your friend to contact his carrier account manager. It is very likely that the account manager will be able to get him the licenses and software for free or at a discounted price.

BPS Express will cost you nothing but your server setup and licenses for the users (but remember is limited to a 15 user threshold).
