Default Drivers

Why is it so hard for people to follow the simplest of rules and driving skills? I know that where I live that people cannot for the life of them indicate when making a lane change or when merging.

All it takes is a fraction of a second to do. Why is it that so frickin difficult?

Also, where I live in Canada there is one highway, the Trans Canada. It's just a two lane highway, nothing to strenuous to drive. We also have another highway that circles the city where I live, ingeniously called the Outer Ring Road. For whatever reason, people drive on this highway like they have never driven in two lane traffic before.

They ride the laft-hand(passing) lane like they got nowhere else better to be. They will pass a car that is travelling at 100km/h doing 105km/h. Then once they pass that car they won't bother pulling back in the right-hand lane, even though there are no more cars to pass. They just cruise on like it's a beautiful Sunday drive

Luckily I don't have road rage, I like to verbally express my distaste for the local driving. The occasional driver gets the horn or finger, or both. Depending on how special they are.

I just don't see why poeple can't drive with a grain of sense. I think that they left children administer the driving tests here. They have to, there is no other reason for the amount of bad driving habits that I see everyday.

I have spent time away from my home province and I am aware that there are bad drivers everywhere. But after two years of being away and coming home I couldn't believe it. I've driven the 401 in Ontario and for the most part the driving was better.

Next is cell phones, and even BlackBerries. The use of cell phones, PDA's, etc.. while driving is illegal where I live. Not that it matters much. These are usually the special people that when cutting me off or doing something entirely stupid that warrants the biggest of all Darwin awards that I would love nothing better than to rip the phone from their hands and destroy it in fron of them.

I will settle for annoying them as much as possible though Nothing pleases me more than getting back at someone without cutting them off or honking the horn. Trapping them in a lane when they want to merge is always fun, or driving slowly so they can't zipzag around me.

And then are the poeple that would not dare drive on the sunniest of days but find some reason to go for a drive in the middle of a snow storm. I'm comfortable with my own driving skills in the winter but everyone else makes me nervy. Especially the people that think their SUV or truck is the best thing since sliced bread. Just because you drive a 4x4, jacked up with dual straight exhaust doesn't mean you can drive like a moron. It takes a heavier vehicle longer to stop in the snow and they do more damage. Use the vehicle appropriately, but be mindful of yourself in the process. If you wrap yourself around a tree, that's one thing. But you lose control and take someone else wth you, have fun sleeping a night.

I'm sure I could go on and on and on and on....... but I won't. I'm sure that everyone has their fair share of stories to tell. Like I said, I know that there are bad drivers everywhere. Bu I think they all move where I live eventually

Phew, and that's my rant for the day.

Hehehe.... I know exactly how you feel. The people here (in Michigan) always lose their brains when the weather isn't absolutely dry and clear. As soon as it starts raining or snowing (and, believe it or not, we have Winter every dang year), they forget that they need to slow down and it JUST MIGHT take them a few extra yards to stop their vehicle (and using my bumper as their stopping mechanism is not welcome).

I like this:

Yay! I'm not the only one. I laugh at my wife because she gets so annoyed with me and my verbal rantings, but every now and again she also chimes in with me. I will bring her over the dark side eventually
