The morning paper says that Bowden has kicked him off the team. About time.

The head ESPN recruiting analyst just put Auburn and Coach Chizik and his new staff as best positive surprise this recruiting season saying "this new staff has been tremendous in closing strong in January". He talked about Auburn landing Tyrik Rollison "a top QB out of texas". "Auburn fans have to be excited about how this class is turning out based on the coaching change situation"

Auburn just picked up DeAngelo Benton, a former two-time commit to LSU and 7th ranked WR in the nation in 2006 (from the same HS that is producing Reuben Randel this year). HUGE pick up for us, as we've been very desperate for an elite WR.
Demond Washington, the #1 JUCO RB, officially signed with AU. Dontae Aycock, the #16 RB, signed with us. Emory Blake, WR, chose us over Texas Tech.

Gotta hand it to Bama with their class. It looks like they will finish 2nd. We still have David Oku on our radar, but he has said that he won't be committing anytime soon.
Ole Miss had THIRTY SEVEN signees today!
And how about the nuts on Bryce Brown's 'manager':
Quote:
Brian Butler, the controversial manager of the top-ranked football recruit, Bryce Brown, is open to the idea. Butler told The Times that if approached by a Canadian Football League team, he’d consider sending Brown there.
Butler said he planned to have someone explore the possibility of Brown playing in the C.F.L. next season. “If they were talking about any amount of real money, I’d guarantee it,” Butler said of Brown potentially playing in the C.F.L. He mentioned a C.F.L. team paying Brown $5 million a year for three years.
He added: “We’re not playing around. I can promise you that. I’m not scared at all to do anything, and Bryce isn’t either. Hey, he’ll hurt your feelings. He’s not worried about your feelings. He’s worried about what’s right and what’s wrong.”

Congrats to Auburn, Otto. They really made some strides in the last two weeks of recruiting season. I have a feeling this group of coaches is going to do well recruiting. The SEC West is going to be a nightmare. All 6 teams from the West are in the Rivals top 20 in recruiting.

Yeah, for the few weeks that this staff has had for recruiting, I'm quite happy with the results. The fact that we only lost one committment today says a lot for this staff. I hope it translates to the field, and quickly. So what does the Tide do with the 200 linebackers on the roster?

Congrats to you all on the incoming classes. I actually think we did well too. As you say, Dawg, ratings are all over and the real truth won't be known for a couple years. We got dinged because we had a small class - have a lot on scholarship already, and redshirted close to 30 last year. This year's class was only 20 signees, and that hurts in the ratings, but we still ended up Top 30 by most accounts even with that small number.

I love the scripted apology. Even if it wasnt against the rules I think it was uncool to call during a visit to another school. I can understand him being pissed off.

If it's not against the rules, then you can bet every coach does it.

Damn, haven't even thought about getting to some football and the trash talking has started already! I'll bet you would love to see TN run all over FL. But then again you'd love to see ANY team run all over FL. That's ok. But really, Rickt is looking a lot like Ray Goof lately. And that's not a good thing. Unless you're a FL Gator!

Someone on ESPN released their Pre-Spring SEC Power Rankings, with Auburn in the 11th spot. I think we'll enter the season unranked and surprise a lot of people. We have Tennessee, LSU, and Georgia on the road but Alabama and West Virginia at home. Should be an interesting season.

You need to lay the glass dick down. Richt is no near as bad a Goff. Goff didnt have a winnibg record hardly at all during his tenure. Any team can be beat any given day. Oh yeah yall discovered that lkast year when you got embarrassed with your non perfect season.

No glass dick. But you're right Dawg. Richt is a far better coach. Goff really was a goof though. I miss him. And I agree, any team can win on any given day. It's just that the odds were a lot less if a team was facing the Gators last season. And they will be a lot less this coming year as well.
Yes, we got embarrassed by a VERY GOOD Ol Miss team last year. At home in the Swamp. But we recovered quite well. Even you have to admit that.

Just a wee bit better I'd say. Ray Goof knew how to snatch defeat right from the jaws of victory.
82-22. Not too shaby. There are a couple schools out there that would love to have that kind of a record.

So looks like your QB is the top ranked QB in the draft. Think he has what it takes to suceed in the NFL?

I honestly don't think he ever received the coaching that Greene did once Bobo took over the Offensive play calling. I thing Stafford will only get better in the NFL with the right coach. Only time will tell so many of these kids get ranked high in the draft and then don not ever amount to anything.

I agree about Stafford and the coaching. It would have been amazing to see him with a good coach. The sad truth is that as a freshman, he tried to show his arm strength by throwing the ball as hard as he could, often causing his receivers to drop the ball. As a Junior, he continued to show this same flaw, although it was more common trying to hit his running back on on a swing or screen pass - no touch or finesse at all.
I think Bradford may have the most refined talent in the draft. He will be a steal for whichever team gets him. I really look forward to seeing him play in the league.

Trooper Taylor on Gene Chizik:
Quote:
"As Gene (Chizik) was showing me around the athletic facility, there was a cleaning lady who came out of the room upstairs, and she came right up to him and hugged him and said, 'I haven't seen you for four or five years. How are the kids?'
"She named both his twins and his little boy, named Jonna (Chizik's wife). And to me, that told me something. He could have coached Jay (Jacobs) up on what to say. He could have coached coach (Joe) Whitt up on what to say. But for that cleaning lady to come up out of that room and take her time out and say hello and hug his neck and know his family, I knew that he treated her right when he was here. And if you treat the cleaning lady right, the rest of us have a chance.

Kiffin: The Blunder Continues
Lane Kiffin flew back to Tennessee less than 48 hours after his son was born. He’d arranged to have someone fetch him at the airport, but the driver was 25 minutes late. “I came back and within five minutes I’d fired the guy who was in charge of the guy who’d been sent to pick me up,” says Kiffin. “Here’s the point: We need to win. That’s 25 minutes that Nick Saban and Urban Meyer had that I lost because somebody was late picking me up at the airport.”
That’s 25 minutes he could have spent mending fences with coaches in Palm Beach County, Florida, I guess. But I digress. Which is easy to do with Junior.
Despite what you might read in Sports Illustrated, new Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin hasn’t contributed to Knoxville’s unemployment rate.
“He has not fired anybody,” UT athletic director Mike Hamilton said Thursday afternoon. “If he said he has fired somebody, that’s not true. I don’t know if he said it from a standpoint of making a point that We’ve got to get this right.’ But he didn’t fire anybody.
“You can’t just fire anybody at Tennessee, particularly when you’re talking about non-contract employees. There’s a process.”
It's great NOT to be a Vol.
