Here's what our new campus looks like now. It is now almost a completely closed campus (to public roads). New student housing has been built and the new basketball arena is almost complete.
In the picture, Jordan-Hare Stadium (football) is at the top left corner. The buildings that all look the same are the student housing dorms (The Village). And the one with the big white top is the new basketball arena (should be one of the nicest in the conference).

I won't insult anyone in the SEC's schedule. Florida's appears to be the easiest and yet when you are on top everybody wants a piece of you.

Nope, not yet. Which service do we want to go with this year?

Agreed. The LSU game is the potential stumbling block. Of course no one expected the Ol Miss outcome either. It is, after all, the SEC.

USA Today coaches poll preseason
USA Today has released the preseason coaches poll. No surprises with the top 5, I'd say. Not sure I think tOSU deserves to be #6, but can't say that too loudly around my wife! I'm of course thrilled that Nebraska is in it, at #22. We play #7 Va Tech in game 4, so we'll find out then if we're any good or not.
And for Otto's benefit, I can't help but to point out that Auburn is in the "others receiving points" - a few points enabling them to be #39 in the poll.

39th BABY! But I almost must point out that we're flying WELL below the radar this season. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see us come out looking quite great this season.

Hehe! You're right about that! Hey, I'm betting there will be at least one half of a game somewhere where they'll be the absolute greatest team in America this year! Of course, they will lose the other half badly enough to drop the game.

To be fair, we were winning every single game but one going into the 4th quarter last season. That's with a pathetic excuse for an offense and the heart of a defense that was finally worn out. I do believe things will be much better this season and our offense will be utilized in a much smarter manner. Of course, I could be wrong and just buying into the Gus Malzahn hype. My only concern is depth of our O-line and secondary.
...and in all honesty, who doesn't drink their team's hunch punch? In defeat, it affects each and every one of us. In victory, we've got this shit-eating grin the following Monday when we walk into the office. I really do enjoy that vodka-enhanced orange koolaid, and I'm sure each of you enjoy a few sips of the red koolaid each year as well.

The first major pre-season poll and we forgot to compare apples. There are 5 SEC teams in the Top 15 and only 3 teams from the Big 12 in the same subset (tied with the Pac-10)...

OK, the group in the pick'em has been created. Same rules as last year during the regular season. Our group name is Port3101 and our password is NCAA2009. This is the Yahoo pick'em, same as last year. I set this account up on my Blackberry, so if I missed any details please feel free to let me know. Good luck guys, and don't let the kool-aid affect your rationale.

What's up?
What's up boys??.. figured I would come in and see what was going on. I think I will start off by posting a quote from the "GOD" in Nebraska.
Tom Osbourne: The Gators "are the standard of excellence."
Omaha.com - The Omaha World-Herald: Big Red - Shatel: Osborne loves Meyer's options
Good article really..

I will say, you're very selective in your quotes, Osborne (again, no u) actually said " right now, the Gators are the standard of excellence" just as the Huskers were in the 90s. Kind of like your sig, where I did acknowledge at that point that the SEC was superior, not for all time as your quote implies.
Actually, as the article points out, there are a lot of similarities to the 90s Huskers and this decade's Gators. If you guys manage to pull off a NC this year, it will equal the Huskers 3 Championships in 4 years in '94, '95 and '97.

Bad news for the Huskers, but shows that Pelini and staff are interested #1 in integrity, makes me proud. The #2 running back, Quentin Castille, for whom great things were being predicted this coming season, has been dismissed from the team by Pelini for "clear violations of team rules." No further elaboration has been forthcoming so far, so not sure exactly what the violations were - nothing involving law enforcement is all we know at present, but I think he's had minor team infractions in the past. Hate to see a talent go, but glad to see Pelini standing firm on team discipline, rules and integrity.

It's favorable, for sure. We'll see if they can avoid the slip up. That seems to be hard to do in the SEC.

What are the Dawgs going to do this year? How's the confidence in Cox in the media and among fans? Anybody to replace Moreno?

I agree with Pelini 100%. It's what Spurrier used to do. Doesn't look like Meyer's MO.

Considering they lost the top QB and RB in April's draft, with a ranking of 15th in the coaches poll, obviously someone has some inside information that I must be missing. There was a recent article where Joe Cox mentioned they would be using multiple RBs to get what was lost with Knowshown. Caleb King was such a highly touted RB and he has slipped to 2nd or 3rd in the depth chart, but I guess there really is only a logical downside to some of these top-rated RBs moving up a level and being on top of the world at the time. I'm guessing that the Dawgs have both experience and depth in most other positions.

I'm not sure if you guys read, but Auburn has named Chris Todd, the former QB that came with Tony Franklin, as our starter. Supposedly his arm has regained full strength from off-season surgery (and this was supposedly the cause for his performance last season). There are a lot of 'supposedly' remarks that could be made about this kid. Kodi Burns has been moved to a WR and Wildcat role. We have two really talented, speedy and shift, and powerful backs in the H-back role (the utilitarian back/receiver). We're very, very slim on both offensive and defensive lines (defensive interior) and linebacker and safety. If we stay healthy in all four areas, which is asking a LOT, we're going to have a good season. We're down to 72 scholarship players, which is something you'd see on an extremely penalized probation team, so asking the team to stay healthy for the long haul is something normally not expected, to be honest. We'll be better than we were last year, if for no other reason than having an offensive coordinator who knows how to put the right players in the right situations.

I dont see us being anything but ordinary. I think Cox will do ok hes been in the system long enough. Its the RB that I am worried about. But from the people I have talked to who have visited Athens they say they look pretty good.
