KB15825 - Error Connecting to LDAP Server


Environment

  • BlackBerry® Web Desktop Manager



Overview

When installing BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager and specifying the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server web address, LDAP Search Base and LDAP login credentials, the following error message is displayed:
Error Connecting to LDAP Server



Cause

This issue may be caused by one of the following:
  1. The LDAP Server web address does not exist or is incorrect.
  2. The LDAP Search Base is incorrect.
  3. The LDAP login credentials are incorrect.



Resolution

Complete one of the following resolutions:


Cause 1:

The LDAP Server web address does not exist or is incorrect.
The Setup log file will display the following warning message:
[30000] (07/17 16:30:16.419):{0xC70} [PIPTOOL]: Leaving InstallDlg: no reboot required.
[30000] (07/17 16:30:23.747):{0xC70} [PIPTOOL]: Leaving SSLDlg.
[30000] (07/17 16:31:34.444):{0xC70} [PIPTOOL]: TestLDAP returned 1.

Resolution:
Verify that the LDAP server specified in the LDAP URL field exists and uses the correct syntax.

Cause 2:

The LDAP Search Base is incorrect.
The Setup log file will display the following warning message:
[30000] (07/17 16:30:16.419):{0xC70} [PIPTOOL]: Leaving InstallDlg: no reboot required.
[30000] (07/17 16:30:23.747):{0xC70} [PIPTOOL]: Leaving SSLDlg.
[30000] (07/17 16:31:34.444):{0xC70} [PIPTOOL]: TestLDAP returned 9.

Resolution:
Verify that the LDAP Search Base field uses the correct syntax.

Cause 3:

The LDAP login credentials are incorrect.
The Setup log file will display the following warning message:
[30000] (07/17 16:30:16.419):{0xC70} [PIPTOOL]: Leaving InstallDlg: no reboot required.
[30000] (07/17 16:30:23.747):{0xC70} [PIPTOOL]: Leaving SSLDlg.
[30000] (07/17 16:31:34.444):{0xC70} [PIPTOOL]: TestLDAP returned 49.

Resolution:
Complete each of the following steps in order:
  1. Verify that the user account specified in the LDAP User name field, which is located beneath the LDAP login credentials section, has the appropriate permissions to log in and search the LDAP server.
  2. Verify that the LDAP User name field uses the correct syntax.
  3. Verify that the password entered is correct.
