KB15040 - OWA stops functioning when BPS is installed on Exchange Server 2007
KB15040 - Microsoft Outlook Web Access stops functioning when BlackBerry Professional Software is installed on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007
Environment
- BlackBerry® Professional Software
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.1
- Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007
- SDR159354
Overview
After BlackBerry Professional Software is installed on a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 that provides the Client Access Server Role and hosts Microsoft® Outlook® Web Access (the default configuration for a typical Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 installation), the Microsoft Outlook Web Access stops functioning.
An attempt to access the Microsoft Outlook Web Access page receives the following error message:
Service Unavailable
Cause
When BlackBerry Professional Software is installed, it does not detect the 64-bit version of Microsoft® .NET that is used by the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. A 32-bit version of Microsoft .NET is installed and overrides the Microsoft .NET 64-bit version. Microsoft Outlook Web Access uses the Microsoft .NET 64-bit functionality.
Resolution
This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.
Workaround
Restore the 64-bit version of Microsoft .NET. For instructions, go to Microsoft Knowledge Base article 894435.
