KB02357 - The name cannot be resolved. The name cannot be matched to a name in the address list
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for Microsoft® Exchange
Overview
You receive the following error message when resolving a BlackBerry smartphone user account name in Microsoft Exchange: The name could not be resolved. The name could not be matched to a name in the address list.
Note: In addition, the Global Address List (GAL) and other address lists may not have any entries.
You have attempted to resolve the account name using one of the following methods:
- You created a Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) profile and selected Check Name.
- You typed a Microsoft Exchange alias in an email form in the Mailbox: field and then pressed CTRL + K.
Cause
This issue has more than one cause.
- The BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account is not a member of the Administrators group and the Authenticated Users’ Read permissions were removed.
- The BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account mailbox or email address is hidden from the Global Catalog List.
- The BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account mailbox does not exist.
- The TCP/IP in the Local Area Connection must be reinstalled.
Resolution
Perform the appropriate resolution for the cause.
Cause 1
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account is not a member of the Administrators group and the Authenticated Users’ Read permissions were removed from the Users container in Microsoft® Active Directory®.
Resolution
Complete the following steps:
- Click Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers.
- On the View menu, click Advanced Features.
- Right-click Users and click Properties.
- Click the Security tab.
- Select Authenticated Users, and then select Read permissions in the Allow column.
Cause 2
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account mailbox or email address is hidden from the Global Catalog List.
Resolution
Complete the following steps:
- In Microsoft Active Directory, select the affected BlackBerry smartphone user account.
- Open the account properties.
- Click the Exchange tab.
- Clear the Hide from Global Catalogue List check box.
Cause 3
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account mailbox does not exist.
Resolution
Create a new BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account. See KB02276 for instructions.
Cause 4
The TCP/IP in the Local Area Connection must be reinstalled.
Resolution
To resolve this problem, remove and re-add TCP/IP in the Local Area Connection properties by completing the following steps:
- Go to My Computer > Control Panel > Network Connections > Local Area Connection.
- From the File menu, select Properties, and then clear the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) check box.
- Install another protocol (NWlink or NetBEUI) to maintain a placeholder for each connection.
- Restart the computer.
- Go to My Computer > Control Panel > Network Connections > Local Area Connection.
- From the File menu, select Properties, and then select the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) check box to add TCP/IP.
- Clear the check box for the protocol added in step 3 (NWlink or NetBEUI)
- Click OK to save the changes.
