KB02439 - Hibernation mode causes mail redirection to stop

Environment

* BlackBerry Wireless Handheld™
* BlackBerry Internet Service™
* BlackBerry® Desktop Redirector

Overview

If Microsoft® Windows® hibernation mode is enabled and is activated, mail will no longer be redirected.

Cause

Hibernation mode was engineered to put the computer into a ‘sleep-like’ state to conserve battery life. When active, all applications running on the computer suspend including Desktop Redirector.

Resolution

Disable the hibernation mode function.

1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2. Double-click on Power Options.
3. Select Hibernate tab uncheck Enable hibernate support.
