Overview
The following error displays in the Windows® Event Viewer Application log:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BlackBerry Policy Service
Event Category: None
Event ID: 20000
Date: 1/01/2008
Time: 12:00:00 PM
User: N/A
Computer: BBServer
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 20000 ) in Source ( BlackBerry Policy Service ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Syntax error in devicexml line 0, column 0. Reason: XML document must have a top level element.
Cause
An existing software configuration no longer has the required specification.pkg and PkgDBCache.xml files stored in the shared location.
Resolution
To update the specification.pkg and PkgDBCache.xml files, complete the following steps:
- From a command prompt, navigate to the apploader directory where your software configuration is shared.
- Type loader.exe /reindex and press Enter.
- Recreate the software configuration in BlackBerry Manager to make sure that the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path is pointing to the appropriate shared direction. (For example: \\BBServer\Research In Motion)
