KB15964 - BlackBerry Messaging Agent stops responding when attempting to start a BlackBerry smartphone user account


Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.1.x for Microsoft® Exchange
  • SDR161227



Overview

The BlackBerry Messaging Agent stops responding when attempting to start a BlackBerry smartphone user account.
The following log shows the starter thread in the MAGT log:
{0x1688} [DIAG] EVENT=Register_thread, THREADID=0x1688, THREADNAME="StarterThread"
The following log displays the failure of the thread:
{0x1688} Starting handheld for User, J. (Joe)
{0x1688} MAPIMailbox::MAPIMailbox(2) ServerDN=/o=CORP/ou=Administrative Group/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=SERVER/cn=Microsoft Private MDB, MailboxDN=/o=CORP/ou=Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=A972651
{0x1688} MAPIMailbox::MAPIMailbox(2) - ResolveName[1] success for DisplayName='/o=CORP/ou=Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=A972651'
{0x1688} {Joe.User@corp.com} MAPIMailbox::MAPIMailbox(2) - Mailbox opened on session 0x013d2c90 (STLAP457005)
{0x1688} PMDatabase::OpenNamedFolder: opening existing folder 'BlackBerryHandheldInfo'
{0x1688} PMDatabase::OpenNamedFolder: opened an existing folder 'BlackBerryHandheldInfo'

Cause

This issue has multiple causes.
  • The BlackBerry smartphone user's mailbox was removed from Microsoft® Exchange, but the BlackBerry smartphone user was not removed from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
  • The BlackBerry smartphone user's mailbox was disabled in Microsoft Exchange.



Resolution

To resolve this issue, remove the affected BlackBerry smartphone users from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. For more information, see KB11638.
