KB11225 - Cannot view images on BlackBerry smartphone
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server
- BlackBerry® smartphones
Overview
The BlackBerry smartphone user is unable to view images on the BlackBerry smartphone.
Cause
The image file extensions are missing from the list of format extensions in the Attachment server configuration.
Resolution
Complete the following steps to configure the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to allow image viewing on the BlackBerry smartphone:
- Click Start > All Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > BlackBerry Server Configuration.
- Click the Attachment Server tab.
- In the Configuration Option drop-down list, click Connector Configuration.
- In the Format Extensions field, add the following extensions to the list separated by colons (
:- bmp
- jpg
- jpeg
- gif
- png
- tif
- tiff
Note: Make sure the above file extensions are also found in the registry. To see the registry, open Regedit and browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\RESEARCH IN MOTION\BBATTACHSERVER\BBATTACHBESEXTENSION.
- Click Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > BlackBerry Server Configuration > Attachment Server. The value BBATTACHFORMATLIST should hold the same extensions as the Attachment Server in the BlackBerry Server Configuration.
- Restart the BlackBerry Dispatcher service to apply these changes successfully. Important: Restarting certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services will delay email message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones. For more information, see KB04789.
