KB12096 - Configure the Local System account for Windows Trusted authentication on a remote BlackBerry Configuration Database


Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.0 and later for IBM® Lotus® Domino®
  • Microsoft® SQL Server® 2000 and 2005



Overview

To configure the Local System account for Windows® Trusted authentication on a remote BlackBerry Configuration Database, complete the following steps:
  1. Open the Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager and expand the SQL Server Group.
  2. Select and expand the Microsoft SQL Server hosting the BlackBerry Configuration Database.
  3. Expand the Security folder.
  4. Right-click Logins.
  5. Click New Login.
  6. Type the name of the computer hosting the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server installation using the form \$.
  7. Click Windows Authentication.
  8. Click the Server Roles tab.
  9. Select the required roles.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Configure the Microsoft SQL Server service to run using a Local System account.
  12. Restart the Microsoft SQL Server.
  13. Configure the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services and the IBM Lotus Domino service to run using a Local System account.
  14. Restart the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Important: Restarting certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services will delay email message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones. For more information, see KB04789
